Ratings Report:

  • FOX’s broadcast of Game 2 of the World Series predictably won the night, with a preliminary 2.8 average in adults 18-49 and 11.33 million viewers, down from Game 1’s 3.4 preliminary rating the night before. While it is expected to adjust up in the finals later today though, it looks like last night’s broadcast will be coming in quite a bit below Game 2 last year, which had scored a 3.9 early rating before adjusting up to a 4.2 final.
  • Despite the competition of the World Series, most of the broadcast field either held steady or grew week to week, with the biggest gains being realized by ABC’s block of comedies. After hitting a series-low 1.1 last week, THE GOLDBERGS rebounded two tenths to earn a 1.3 last night; MODERN FAMILY also rose up two tenths to earn a 1.5, while AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE and SINGLE PARENTS (1.1) each ticked up by a tenth. Drama A MILLION LITTLE THINGS was even with last week, posting another 0.8.
  • It was a steady night down the line for CBS, with SURVIV OR (1.4), SEAL TEAM (0.8) and CRIMINAL MINDS (0.7) all matching their last episodes.
  • On NBC’s CHICAGO franchise night, MED rebounded by a tenth to earn a 1.3, while both PD (1.2) and FIRE (1.3) held on to their ratings from last week.
  • Lastly, some positive upticks for the CW: both RIVERDALE (0.5) and ALL AMERICAN (0.3) were up a tenth from last week.

Of Note:

  • Without any major sports broadcasts to compete with, WWE SMACKDOWN retook its usual number one spot in the Tuesday cable ratings this week, scoring a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 with 2.09 million viewers. However, the show was down two-tenths from the 0.9 it posted last Tuesday.
  • Bravo’s BELOW DECK came second in the night, and maintained its previous 0.5 yet again, while MTV’s THE CHALLENGE: FINAL RECKONING rounded out the top three, also with a 0.5.
  • In scripted programming, FX’s MAYANS MC was steady with another 0.5, while USA’s THE PURGE broke its recent 0.4 streak, falling a tenth to a 0.3. Elsewhere, OWN’s THE HAVES AND THE HAVE NOTS was steady with a 0.3.
  • On TBS, THE GUEST BOOK kicked off its season with back-to-back episodes, scoring 0.3 and 0.2s, down two and three-tenths from its first season premiere last year.

OTHER NEWS:

  • PROJECTS GREENLIT/ORDERED:
    • Facebook released a new trailer for QUEEN AMERICA, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, which you can see HERE. I’m not sure what I was expecting from a social media platform show with an A-list star, but this looks…dreadful. Of course, what I’ll be watching for instead are the engagement levels for the show in its first and second weeks as a performance indicator, but wow. There’s got to be better entertainment for women and girls out there.
    • STAR TREK: BELOW DECKS | TBDx30 | Animated Comedy | CBS All Access

Log line: Centering around the never-before-told stories of the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships

  • Secret Hideout & Roddenberry Entertainment will produce
  • EP/Showrunner is Mike McMahan, head writer for Dan Harmon’s Rick & Morty
  • 2 season straight-to-series order
