Ratings Report:

  • Tuesday was Game 1 of the World Series. The live broadcast of the LA Dodgers versus Boston Red Sox opener scored a 3.4 in adults 18-49, currently up five tenths from the 2017 preliminary rating for Game 1, but still trailing five tenths behind the final 3.9 rating for Game 1.
  • On the other end of the spectrum, all of ABC’s shows took a nosedive this week, with THE CONNERS sinking half a point from its premiere to earn a 1.7 last night (still the highest rated scripted program of the 8pm hour). The tumble continued throughout the night, with both THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (1.1) and SPLITTING UP TOGETHER (0.7) falling three tenths from their premieres, while BLACKISH (0.9) and THE ROOKIE (0.8) both dropped by two tenths.
  • Elswhere, CW had a better night; both THE FLASH (0.7) and BLACK LIGHTNING (0.4) managed to rise back up a tenth from their preliminary ratings last week, while CBS had the steadiest lineup of the week. NCIS (1.2), FBI (1.0), and NCIS: New Orleans (0.8) all remained even with last week.
  • Finally on NBC, THE VOICE (1.6) and THIS IS US (2.1) both slipped a tenth this week, but NEW AMSTERDAM grew from 1.2 to 1.3 in the 10pm hour.

Of Note:

  • Unsurprisingly, ESPN’s broadcast of the Giants vs. Falcons MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game kept the network easily at the top of the cable ratings again this week, posting a 3.5 rating in adults 18-49 with 10.33 million viewers. However, it was down six tenths from the 4.1 MNF earned last week. ESPN also took the number two and three spots with kickoff coverage (1.3) and a late edition of SPORTSCENTER (1.1).
  • Elsewhere, USA’s WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW managed to tick up slightly week-to-week, rising from its previous 0.9 to a 1.0 peak rating across its 3-hour run time last night.
  • On VH1, LOVE & HIP HOP: HOLLYWOOD ticked up slightly from a 0.8 to a 0.9. Bravo’s REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ORANGE COUNTY held steady with another 0.5, while MTV’s TEEN MOM fell from a 0.6 to a 0.5 this time around.
