Ratings Report:

  • ABC kicked off a (nearly) all new comedy lineup, with Roseanne-Lite, aka THE CONNORS kicking off the night. While not pulling nearly the same numbers as the original reboot last season, THE CONNORS nevertheless still picked up the overall ratings win for Wednesday night, scoring a 2.3 in 18-49-year-olds and 10.46 million viewers (only NCIS had a larger audience, at 11.68 million). Connors is now the highest rated debut of the 2018-19 season, beating out MANIFEST for the top spot.
  • Moving past ABC’s biggest show of the night, the rest of the lineup saw likely inflated, but still solid numbers. The series premiere of THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT grabbed a 1.4, while new cop drama THE ROOKIE in the 10pm hour grabbed a 1.0 and 5.38 million viewers, retaining 100% of the SPLITTING UP TOGETHER (1.0) lead-in. BLACKISH returned at 1.1, down a tenth from its season finale last May.
  • Elsewhere on primetime was a mostly down night. On Fox, THE GIFTED fell to a series low 0.6, while LETHAL WEAPON maintained its 0.7 for another week in a row. THE FLASH on CW was down two tenths from its series premiere to a 0.6 this week, and BLACK LIGHTNING also slipped, down a tenth to 0.3.
  • NBC was down across the board as well, THE VOICE (1.7) and THIS IS US (2.2) both dipped a tenth, while NEW AMSTERDAM fell off by two tenths to land at 1.2.
  • On CBS, both NCIS (1.2) and NCIS: NEW ORLEANS (0.8) were both down a bit this week, while FBI, fresh off a back 9 order, remained steady at 1.0.

OTHER NEWS:

  • DEVELOPMENT NEWS:
    • I had a chat with the guys over at Ugly Brother today, and there are a few shows that they’re currently working on that sound promising:
      • SECRET RELATIVE | A+E | Shooting Pilot January, 2019

Log line: Genealogy show that follows a similar format to Wife Swap, but the twist is that they find out they are blood relatives.

  • UNTITLED GENEALOGY SHOW | busted pilot for Lifetime

Log line: Partnered with company Ancestry, the format is similar to the stand-alone episodes of Crossing Over with John Edwards: a crowd turns up to learn something about themselves, turns out they are all related in some way.

  • Rights reverted to Ugly Bros and they are currently recutting
  • I’ll pass along the pilot as soon as we receive it
  • TRIPLE THREAT | CBS

Log line: A mashup game show that incorporates elements of karaoke, Dance Dance Revolution, and HQ Trivia. 3 contestants play against an avatar, and 2 make it to the final. The finalists face off against each other to determine a winner.

  • SISTERS | True Jack, Endemol Shine NA | Universal TV | Fox | Put Pilot

Log line: Based on the Australian series created by Jonathan Gavin and Banks, SISTERS centers on only child Julia Bechly, who finds her life turned upside down when her father is forced to reveal that over the course of his pioneering career as a fertility doctor, he used his own sperm to conceive dozens of children. As she dutifully begins to track down her emerging group of siblings, among a sea of brothers, Julia discovers only two sisters – both of whom quickly become a part of her now redefined family.

  • PROJECTS GREENLIT/ORDERED:
    • THE REAL WORLD | Bunim/Murray | Facebook Watch | Spring 2019

Log line: The world’s first original reality show and trailblazing social experiment is coming to the world’s largest social networking platform, promising once again to  represent and amplify the real life, real people, real places and real social tensions of each country in which it films.

  • 3 seasons will be launched: US, Mexico, and Thailand, all with their unique cultural and political perspective.
