Ratings Report:
- NBC secured an easy win over the other nets on Tuesday night, with its one-two punch of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT (2.0) and WORLD OF DANCE (1.2) each dropping a tenth in the 18-49 demo. Looking at audience this week is interesting: AGT grew its audience by 3% while WOD shrunk by the same percentage, while the network grew 1% in overall audience week-to-week.
- The rest of the field was mostly quiet:
- Fox’s BEAT SHAZAAM (0.7) and LOVE CONNECTION (0.5) put up their usual numbers, even with their last episodes before the MLB All-Star game.
- ABC’s docuseries THE LAST DEFENSE held steady at 0.4.
- CW split its night: THE 100 bounced back up to its usual 0.3, while summer drama THE OUTPOST fell to 0.1, half of its usual 0.2 rating among 18-49s.

Of Note:
- The season five premiere of LOVE & HIP HOP: HOLLYWOOD was the only show to break the 1.0 ratings barrier on Monday, although the 1.2 it earned was down a tenth from its season four premiere.
- Unsurprisingly, USA’s WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW muscled into the other top spots, with a peak rating of 0.9 throughout the three-hour broadcast, also a tenth down.
- The 30th anniversary of Shark Week on Discovery continues to take bites out of the cable list, with several shows scoring between 0.8-0.4; GREAT WHITE ABYSS gained the most traction, with a 0.8 rating and 1.86 million viewers.
- The second season of FLORIBAMA SHORE on MTV continues to perform well, earning a 0.5 this week around, up a tenth, while Nickelodeon’s reboot of DOUBLE DARE continues to put up solid 0.2s and just under 1 million viewers for another week in a row.

- FX has ordered an 8-episode limited drama on the lives and love of choreographer Bob Fosse and dancer Gwen Verdon. This wouldn’t be such big news except for those involved: Oscar nominee Michelle Williams and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell are set in the lead roles, under the direction of Broadway theater darling Lin-Manuel Miranda. Fox 21 TV Studios and FX Productions are co-producers.
- Snap and DC Entertainment are dusting off satire icon MAD Magazine for a new generation on Snapchat. The upcoming slate of content on the app will including commentary on contemporary politics and current events, as well as classic and nostalgic MAD material. I’m curious about what they have planned for the next installments of Spy vs. Spy, but not very interested beyond that.

- In business briefs:
- Viacom is in talks to acquire digital platform AwesomenessTV at a steep discount from its $650 million USD valuation (2016). The deal is expected to go through with little problem, as the young-skewing brand fits in well with other Viacom brands Nickelodeon and MTV.
