Ratings Report:

  • It was another night of finales across broadcast last night, although it was EMPIRE on Fox that kept its hold atop Wednesday’s ratings. The series stayed steady at 1.6 among 18-49s, the highest mark of the night, although SURVIVOR (1.4/-.1) on CBS had the largest audience at 7.45 million viewers. Later on Fox, a new episode of STAR rose a tenth to 1.3 this week.
  • As mentioned, SURVIVOR on CBS dropped a tenth week-to-week, while SEAL TEAM ended its first season on an even note, earning another 0.9. CODE BLACK ticked up a tenth, earning a 0.8 this week.
  • ABC had the longest line-up of finales for the evening, with all Wednesday programs ending last night. Returning comedies THE GOLDBERGS (1.2), MODERN FAMILY (1.3), and AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE (1.1) all ended their current seasons even with last week, while canceled freshman comedy ALEX INC rose a tenth in its series finale, earning a 0.8. Canceled drama DESIGNATED SURVIVOR also rose a tenth in the finale to score a 0.6, and although its over at ABC, there are still talks going on with Netflix to potentially move the series over to the streaming platform.
  • NBC’s BLACKLIST (0.7) ended its current season even with last week, while LAW & ORDER: SVU dropped a tenth to 1.0. A special, INSIDE THE ROYAL WEDDING: HARRY AND MEGHAN, earned a 0.6.
  • CW shows posted their usual numbers; RIVERDALE ended its season with a 0.4, and THE ORIGINALS earned a 0.3.

Of Note:

  • NBA Playoff action continues to top cable ratings. ESPN’s broadcast of the Cleveland versus Boston game scored a 3.5 among 18-49s, with 8.23 million watching. The subsequent SPORTSCENTER trailed behind in second position with a 1.3, while the network’s broadcast of the NBA Draft Lottery rounded out the top three, scoring a 1.0.
  • Elsewhere on cable, WWE SMACKDOWN retained its 0.7 rating for another week, while TBS comedy THE LAST OG fell back a tenth to 0.4 this Tuesday.
  • On Bravo, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fell two-tenths to a 0.4, and the season premiere of “Below Deck Mediterranean” raked in a 0.4 as well.
